Here's the deal. I drank too much while watching Casablanca to fully understand what was happening. Mostly what I took away from this film is there's as many ceiling fans in Casablanca as there are actual human people. But that's what I liked about it. The aesthetic. More than anything, you felt like you were there.
At that bar,
listening to jazz,
dueling La Marseillaise against Nazi music (highly recommend watching this scene),
or just in their offices.
Even down to their outfits, everything about this film felt perfectly "Casablanca", even having never been there before.
